Taking care about hearts is a great responsibility. We try to fulfill our job with maximal professionalism but also with passion. There's one thing we should never take away from patients: HOPE!
At Cardio Center Luzern we don't wear white coats. Our aim is to eliminate distance with our patients and we don't mind if they feel like our family members.
I am a professor of medicine in the University of Lucerne and have a long career in teaching and lecturing. Learning from eachother is great for us as doctors and increases the quality of care for our patients.
Opening chronically occluded heart arteries (CTO) is my passion. We have one of the largest programs taking care about this kind of patients in Switzerland. On the picture you can see Dr. Bossard and me happy after successfully opening a CTO.
In this patient the right coronary artery was occluded for many years. We performed a retrogade procedure - going from the left coronary artery to the right coronary artery using tiny channels. This is a routine procedure for us.
Treating patients post bypass surgery is always challenging as the native arteries are often heavily calcified. In this patient we achieved a fantastic result by using dedicated high-pressure balloons. We are a reference center for complex interventions.
